Men’s Health’s gaydar on the fritz, says Seattle full of eligible women

Last week, we reported that, according to Jezebel, Seattle is a great place to be a lesbian. Which is pretty cool, because for all of our town’s LGBT love, the “L” part tends to get a little overshadowed by the other bits. It also means that there are a lot of technically “single” women -- which could explain why Men’s Health seems to think Seattle is “where the babes are.”

According to their most recent batch of offensive, anti-woman “research,” Men’s Health has ranked various US cities based on whether or not they contain lots of “babes.” And apparently, Seattle does.

Using metrics like “ratio of single women to single men, the percentage of college-educated women, the percentage of gainfully employed single women (all from the Census) and the number who work out (Experian Simmons),” MH has decided which cities are the best for men who like a scatter-shot approach when it comes to picking up women. Unfortunately, if Jezebel’s numbers are any indication, male readers may want to stop packing up their apartments and return that one-way flight to SeaTac. Because while we’ve got plenty of available women, there’s a good chance they just won’t be that into you.

Sure, it’s entirely possible that Seattle is just brimming with single, successful, straight women. But I think it’s more likely that MH just got its wires crossed. Say it with me, MH: It’s not me, it’s you.
